Disney World adds 10K, Dopey Challenge to stretched 5-day marathon weekend

The 2014 Disney Marathon Weekend, Jan. 8-12, will enhance to 5 days and will embody a 10K, along with a Family Fun Run 5K, a Disney Half Marathon, a Disney Marathon and Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge. Add those all together and we have a Dopey Challenge – run all 4 events in unbroken days (48.6 miles) to acquire 6 medals.
After a Disney Family Fun Run 5K on Thursday, runDisney’s new Walt Disney World 10K, a 6.2-mile timed event, takes place Friday, during Epcot. Runners completing a competition will accept a Minnie Mouse desirous medal.
As in past years, a Walt Disney World Half Marathon will be run on Saturday followed by a Walt Disney World Marathon on Sunday. Runners who finish both – Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge – will accept a special Goofy-themed medal. Add on a 5K and a 10K and runners can acquire 4 medals, one for any competition completed, and a Goofy and new Dopey Challenge medals, for a sum transport of 6 medals.
Inaddition to those 4 races, a Disney Marathon Weekend will underline runDisney Kids Races and a Mickey Mile, that both take place during a ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Special ticketed breakfasts with characters will be Thursday and Friday following a Family Fun Run 5K and 10K during Epcot, Pasta in a Park parties during Epcot and runners can applaud their accomplishments from a weekend during a Cool Down Party during Downtown Disney on Sunday.
The stretched five-day competition weekend starts on Wednesday with a start of Disney’s Health and Fitness Expo, giving runners additional time to collect adult competition packets, emporium for a latest using attire and technology, and accommodate experts such as runDisney central training consultant Jeff Galloway and runDisney nutritionist Tara Gidus. The expo is giveaway and open to a public.
Online registration for all Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend events opens Apr 9, though runners can enter early by signing adult for a Runner’s World Challenge starting Apr 2. This singular event allows runners to register for a Half Marathon, Marathon, Goofy Challenge or Dopey Challenge, accept customized training skeleton from Runner’s World repository editors and suffer VIP practice via weekend.
